Soul, Mind & Body
We understand healing as an integrative process. The mind carries thoughts and narratives, the body stores memory and sensation, and the inner self, or soul, carries intuition, faith, identity, and values.
Western psychotherapy has often prioritised cognition, focusing on understanding patterns, reframing beliefs, and analysing behaviour. This can be powerful, but it is not always enough.

Embodied & Creative
Stress and trauma are not only remembered in the mind, but experienced through the body – in our emotions, nervous system, fascia, and somatic symptoms. Somatics is rooted in Indigenous and ancestral wisdom, which we approach with deep respect and reverence. Experiences that are emotionally demanding can disrupt our sense of safety, belonging, dignity, and alignment with our values.
At EK Therapy, all of our therapists are trained in embodied and creative approaches alongside talking therapy. This allows us to work not only through conversation, but through imagery, metaphor, movement, and sensation, capturing experiences that words alone can’t.
Social-Justice Led
No one exists outside of context. Culture, identity, and lived experience shape how distress is felt and how healing becomes possible.
Our commitment to anti-oppressive and intersectional practice is not just a policy, but something we reflect on continually, in supervision, in dialogue, and in accountability to each other and to our clients.
Clients are invited to express preferences around the therapist they work with, because feeling seen and understood is central to the work we do.
