About

Our Approach

At EK Therapy, we understand that our experiences are held not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies, emotions, relationships and sense of self.

Our approach brings together talking therapy, embodied psychotherapy and creative ways of working. This allows us to meet each person as a whole human being, rather than focusing only on symptoms or diagnoses.

We work with curiosity, compassion and cultural awareness, creating space for people to reconnect with themselves and find ways of healing that feel meaningful to them.

Our Mission

We support people to reconnect with themselves, understand their emotional worlds and experience lasting change.

Our work goes beyond traditional talking therapy. Through individual therapy, dyadic, an EK Reset or working alongside organisations and communities, we create meaningful spaces for people to express themselves, make sense of their experiences and heal in ways that honour their whole being.

Our Vision

For people and communities to thrive – feeling more connected in soul, mind and body, and able to trust their own inner wisdom.

What Guides Our Work

At EK Therapy, we support people to:

Trauma-informed practice is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that healing does not only happen individually – it can also happen within relationships, families, systems and communities.

We meet people where they are and work at a pace that feels right for them.

Soul, Mind and Body

We understand healing as a whole-person process. The mind carries our thoughts and stories, the body holds sensations and responses, and the soul can connect us with our identity, faith, values and inner wisdom.

Traditional psychotherapy often focuses on thoughts, beliefs and behaviour. This can be valuable, but it may not always reach experiences that are difficult to explain or put into words. Our approach creates space for every part of the person.

Embodied and Creative

Stress, trauma and emotionally overwhelming experiences can affect how safe and connected we feel within our bodies. They may be experienced through anxiety, tension, numbness, shutdown, restlessness or other physical and emotional responses.

Our therapists are trained in embodied and creative approaches alongside talking therapy. Depending on what feels right for you, sessions may include imagery, metaphor, movement, art-making or noticing sensations in the body. You will never be pressured to work in a particular way.

Embodied practices are also rooted in Indigenous and ancestral wisdom, which we approach with respect and care.

Social Justice and Cultural Responsiveness

No one exists outside of their context. Culture, race, faith, identity, relationships and lived experiences can all shape how distress is experienced, whether someone feels understood and what healing means to them

Our commitment to anti-oppressive and intersectional practice is something we continually reflect upon through supervision, dialogue and accountability. Where possible, clients can express preferences about the therapist they work with, because feeling seen, respected and understood matters.

How We Work Together

Our therapeutic process is designed to meet you exactly where you are. We believe that true healing happens when therapy adapts to your life, not the other way around. Here is how we intentionally walk alongside you through every step of your personal growth and transformation.

Connection & Safety

We begin by creating a secure, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood.

Collaborative Exploration

Together, we look at your unique life experiences, culture, and the challenges you face.

Tailored Pathways

We design evidence-based therapeutic approaches that align perfectly with your personal needs.

Lasting Growth

We support your journey as you build deeper self-awareness and sustainable emotional healing.

Workshop Feedback
Workshop Attendee

She was extremely informative, speaking with my partner and I from the outset about how she would like to speak to us prior to working with X so she could find out some background information. She completely put our nerves at ease and we felt confident that she would be the best person to help us with this

Why you feel disconnected from yourself and the first step back.

Inside the free 15-minute masterclass, you’ll learn:

The EK Reset

Not every difficult moment calls for ongoing therapy. Sometimes you simply need the time and space to pause, make sense of what’s happening, and reconnect with yourself.

The EK Reset is a focused, one-off therapy session designed to help you slow down, understand what your mind and body are telling you, and leave with greater clarity about your next steps. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, facing a life transition, struggling with stress or anxiety, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, an EK Reset offers dedicated time to explore what’s most important to you.

Using our trauma-informed, body-based approach, your therapist will work alongside you to understand your current experience and support you in finding a greater sense of safety, grounding and direction. There is no expectation to continue with therapy afterwards, although if ongoing support would be beneficial, we’ll discuss the options available to you.

The EK Reset is available as a 50 or 90-minute session online using a secure platform.

How to book
Book a complimentary 20-minute consultation if you’d like to discuss whether it’s the right option for you. We’ll match you with the therapist best suited to your needs and arrange a time that works for you.
