Trauma Therapy in Birmingham for Lasting Healing and Recovery

Trauma Therapy in Birmingham

If you’re looking for trauma therapy in Birmingham, EK Therapy offers compassionate, trauma-informed psychotherapy for children, young people, adults and families. We understand that trauma can affect far more than memories. It can influence the way we feel, think, relate to others, and experience safety within our own bodies.

Whether your experiences stem from childhood, relationships, loss, abuse, neglect, medical experiences or a single overwhelming event, trauma can leave lasting emotional and physical effects. Our role is not to ask you to relive painful experiences before you’re ready, but to create a therapeutic space where healing can happen safely and at your own pace.

We offer both in-person trauma therapy in Birmingham and online sessions across the UK.

What is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma therapy is a specialist form of psychotherapy that helps people understand and recover from the impact of traumatic experiences. Trauma can affect the nervous system long after an event has ended, leaving people feeling constantly anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck in patterns that once helped them survive.

At EK Therapy, we recognise that trauma is not defined solely by what happened to you, but by how those experiences were held within your mind, body and relationships.

Our approach combines talking therapy with embodied psychotherapy, creative approaches and trauma-informed practice to support both emotional understanding and nervous system regulation.

Trauma therapy is a specialist form of psychotherapy that helps people understand and heal from the emotional, psychological and physical impact of traumatic experiences. At EK Therapy, we integrate trauma-informed, embodied and creative approaches to support healing at a pace that feels safe for you.

Yes. Many of the people we support are living with the long-term effects of childhood experiences, including neglect, abuse, loss, inconsistent caregiving or developmental trauma. Therapy can help you understand how these experiences continue to affect your life today while supporting greater regulation and emotional wellbeing.

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from trauma therapy. Many people seek support for anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties or feeling constantly on edge, without ever having been diagnosed with PTSD.

Yes. Alongside in-person appointments, we offer secure online trauma therapy throughout Birmingham and across the UK.

There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people come for short-term support, while others benefit from longer-term therapy to explore more complex or longstanding experiences. We will regularly review your therapy together.

Whilst counselling can provide valuable emotional support, trauma therapy specifically considers how traumatic experiences affect the brain, body, emotions and nervous system. At EK Therapy, we combine relational psychotherapy with embodied, trauma-informed approaches to support healing that goes beyond talking alone.

The EK Reset

Not every difficult moment calls for ongoing therapy. Sometimes you simply need the time and space to pause, make sense of what’s happening, and reconnect with yourself.

The EK Reset is a focused, one-off therapy session designed to help you slow down, understand what your mind and body are telling you, and leave with greater clarity about your next steps. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, facing a life transition, struggling with stress or anxiety, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, an EK Reset offers dedicated time to explore what’s most important to you.

Using our trauma-informed, body-based approach, your therapist will work alongside you to understand your current experience and support you in finding a greater sense of safety, grounding and direction. There is no expectation to continue with therapy afterwards, although if ongoing support would be beneficial, we’ll discuss the options available to you.

The EK Reset is available as a 50 or 90-minute session online using a secure platform.
